What FFL Field Ops does, how it connects, and what stays in FastBound.
Is FFL Field Ops an official FastBound product?
No. It is an independently developed app and is not endorsed by FastBound or ATF.
How does it connect to FastBound?
From app settings, tap Open FastBound. Your usual web browser opens so you can use your saved sign-in. Generate and copy the account key in FastBound, return to FFL Field Ops, and tap Paste my FastBound key. See the picture guide.
Does the app replace FastBound, a bound book, Form 4473, or NICS?
No. FastBound remains the shop's record system. FFL Field Ops helps with day-to-day mobile work and does not replace Form 4473, NICS, or legal guidance.
How does the camera read a firearm serial?
Take a clear photo of the serial marking on the firearm. The app suggests the letters and numbers it sees, and you compare them with the firearm before saving. Manual typing is always available.
What does barcode scanning do?
Barcode scanning can match a UPC, Code 128, or QR label on a box or tag. It can help identify the package, but it does not replace reading the serial from the firearm marking.
Will the app save records automatically?
No. You see the item details and check the serial against the firearm before saving.
What works offline?
Drafts, inventory counts, and selected shop work can continue when the connection drops. Offline work can remain queued, conflicted, stale, uncertain, or failed; restoring service does not guarantee completion. Review pending work and the final FastBound record before relying on it.
How are Documents & Costs files handled?
Authorized work-order users can add private PDFs, JPEGs, PNGs, and related business records with linked recorded costs. Access is checked for each request and uses short-lived private file access rather than public sharing links. The browser uploader is online-first, so reserve, upload, verification, and retry need a current connection. Deleting a document removes ordinary application access and can mark required linked evidence as missing; cost history is not rewritten. Copies downloaded, shared, or exported by a user are controlled by the destination.
How is the FastBound connection protected?
Your FastBound key is protected and is not kept as a regular setting on the phone.
How do I get access?
Each FFL organization uses one owner account and one FFL Field Ops user. The production mobile app does not create additional user accounts or offer a purchase or upgrade path; the organization owner can contact support for approved onboarding help.
